Dentures and Partials
Dr. Crowley’s office offers custom-made dentures in order to fill in gaps between missing teeth.
Dentures are removable false teeth. They’re worn in order to replace missing teeth and can be made using flesh-colored acrylic for the base that fits over a person’s gums. (The base can also be made from nylon or metal, by the way.) Upper dentures have a base that’s made to cover the roof of the mouth, while lower dentures are typically shaped like a horseshoe because they need to accommodate the tongue.
Dr. Crowley’s office offers custom-made dentures in order to fill in gaps between missing teeth. Having dentures helps people chew and speak better than if they didn’t have them. There are “full dentures” and “partials” depending on how many missing teeth a person has to fill in.
Partial dentures are made to clip onto natural teeth. They use clasps to stay in place, and they’re made with plates made of metal, plastic or nylon.
Partial dentures blend in well with other teeth and can be removed as needed.
At Crowley Family Dental of Sandusky, we have people come into the office to have impressions taken if they express interest in dentures/partials. That way, we can make sure what’s made for them is a perfect fit!
Dentures take some getting used to. Many people take them out of their mouths at night to give their gums a rest. They’ll store them in water or a special solution overnight so they don’t dry out. Dr. Crowley can advise you on proper care and maintenance of your dentures.
Do you have a missing tooth or several missing teeth? Consider getting dentures at Crowley Family Dental to improve your smile and make it easier to chew and speak.
